A charming 1818 colonial, Aaron Burbank's Windfall House is set in historic Sandwich Village, the oldest town on Cape Cod, incorporated in 1639 and rich in history.
This gracious antique has retained many original features: wide-board pine floors, three fireplaces (one with a beehive oven), and the turned staircase to name a few. Rooms are decorated with many antique and period furniture pieces. Attractive plantings and a private side yard provide a perfect setting. A wonderful choice for the traveler who wants the tranquillity of a village setting.
Bedchambers have either
full-sized or queen-sized beds. Each bedchamber furnished uniquely with antique
and period pieces and decorated with fresh flowers has either a private or
shared bath.
The Keeping Room (dining room) is named after Enos Breed, builder of the house in 1818. Its 8-foot beamed ceiling, working fireplace with beehive oven and original cooking utensils, wainscoting, wide-board pine floors, and 60-pane glass picture window return you to the charm of old colonial New England.
A full breakfast served by candlelight is offered daily from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. featuring fresh baked muffin du jour, fruit juices, seasonal fresh fruit tray, and a full choice of egg dishes. Omelets are served with home fries prepared with herbs from our herb garden and a variety of pancakes is also available. All dishes are garnished with fresh fruit or flowers from our gardens. Herbal teas, brewed decaffeinated coffee and of course our freshly ground special blend of coffee are available. Special dietary needs are happily accommodated.
The
Gathering Room (living room) is named after Lucy Bourne Pope Breed,
wife of Enos Breed, also features a beamed ceiling, working fireplace, built-in
bookcase, wainscoting, wide-board pine floors. The Gathering Room provides a
comfortable setting to relax with books, magazines, board games, local
newspapers or you may choose to view digital cable television, listen to music
or mingle with guests. A Dutch door opening onto a quaint small porch overlooks
the beautifully landscaped side yard featuring many attractive plantings and
quaint seating areas. A gazebo and a Japanese Koi pond have been added for
guest relaxation.
